CSR: TRX’s Collaboration with Kechara Soup Kitchen

May 6, 2025

Overview

As part of TRX City’s commitment to social responsibility, the Ramadan CSR Programme extends its support to the Kechara Soup Kitchen (Kechara), a non-governmental organisation (NGO) dedicated to assisting the urban poor. With Imbi and Pudu neighbouring Tun Razak Exchange (TRX), collaborating with Kechara, which is located nearby, ensures that support directly reaches those in the surrounding community who need it most.

Participants and Targets

The TRX Ramadan CSR initiative engages multiple stakeholders, including Kechara’s dedicated team, TRX employees, corporate partners and volunteers, and members of the local community. They can either contribute in the form of monetary donations or dedicate their time through volunteer work.

The partnership with Kechara aims to provide essential food aid through two primary activities – the Food Basket Programme and the Soup Kitchen Programme.

The Food Basket Programme is a crucial part of Kechara’s efforts to support low-income urban families struggling with the rising cost of living. Volunteers would deliver food baskets to the homeless based in the city centre. The baskets contain food items as well as basic hygiene products.

Meanwhile, the Soup Kitchen Programme operates from Kechara’s headquarters in Imbi, where sponsored lunch boxes are distributed to 150 registered recipients every weekday. Volunteers are encouraged to participate in both food preparation and distribution, either at the headquarters or during street distribution sessions at Pudu on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Achievements and Outcome

Through this collaboration, TRX City has been able to contribute to Kechara’s mission of reducing food insecurity in Kuala Lumpur. The Food Basket Programme provides relief to the homeless, while the Soup Kitchen Programme continues to serve as a dependable source of daily sustenance for those in need.

Being part of the TRX community means actively investing in the welfare of those around us. This initiative exemplifies the district’s shared responsibility where everyone comes together to support and uplift the community.
